Hello, I'm Moira!
I have loved flowers ever since my Mom and Dad read Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert to me as a small child. The first flowers I grew were sunflowers; that summer my siblings and I ran in and out of the gigantic blooms.
I was inspired to grow and arrange flowers by Floret Farms Cut Flower Garden. I have been arranging hand-tied bouquets since 2019, using the flowers grown in our yard. A Humble Wayside Flower started in 2022, and I have been learning so much ever since!
The Story Behind the Name
"A Humble Wayside Flower" refers to a line from The Scarlet Pimpernel, by Baroness Orczy referring to the English wildflower, a scarlet pimpernel. When deciding on a title for my business, I wanted a creative name that had a special connection to me. I have loved The Scarlet Pimpernel series, and I love reading literature. Having a title that connected one of my favorite books with my passion for flowers means so much.
